Artech 2004 was the first workshop held in Portugal and Galicia on the topic of Digital Arts. It aimed at establishing a series of events in this novel and emerging trans disciplinary field in both these countries however open the rest of the word. Artech 2004 brought in to same place practitioners, artists, scholars, researchers, theoreticians and art consumers in general. The workshop has been held in Lisbon, Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon. It embraced technical sessions, poster and installation, two invited speakers, Tony Lavender from Computer Graphics Center, Guimarães, and, Mário Vieira de Carvalho, Faculty of Humanities of the University of Lisbon.
